The Power of Vulnerability

This idea has come up in quite a few conversations I have had in the past week. Most people see being vulnerable as being weak and needy. However, Brené Brown has done extensive research on vulnerability and found the most vulnerable people to be the strongest people emotionally, physically and socially. Additionally, an increase in vulnerability leads to an increase in happiness and feelings of self-worth.

Why We Hold Hands: Dr. James Coan

This is one of my favorite Ted talks and I recommend that all my couples watch it. Society teaches us that we should be independent and not need other people in our lives. That we should want to be with someone not need to be with someone. However, nature has created us to need other people. We are only able to regulate our emotions when there are others around to help us regulate them. Happy Watching!
